Global Fund for Women celebrated it's 15th Anniversary in December 2002. NVIWODA was one of the 15 Global groups that received the award, to specifically support indigenous community based organisations in Uganda; that have limited opportunities to reach to funders due to their size and remoteness, limited infrastructure, disparities in languages and lack technical know how on financial resource mobilization.

NVIWODA also supports communities in development and formation of Community Based Organizations (CBO's i.e. United Women Development Association (UWODA), Kabaawo Women Savings and Credit Development Association (KWOSCDA), Reach 0ut To the Wives of the Soldiers Association (RWOSA), Mperre Indigenous Initiative for Development (MIID).

The purpose of NVIWODA's involvement is to spread out to the grassroots women, who practically need support in capacity building, through training in leadership, business skills and other areas of concern as need arises, to enable them attain equal human right.

NVIWODA Networks with other organisations namely:

National Association of Women NGO.s in Uganda (NAWOU)

Uganda Small Scale Industries Association (USSIA)

Development Network of Indigenous Voluntary Associations (DENIVA)

Association of Micro-Finance of Uganda (AMFIU)

In addition, many others through exchange visit programmes

NVIWODA has built its foundation, through participation in organized workshop/seminars, as well as efficiently utilizing the knowledge acquired

The organisation has too participated in organized exhibitions such as:

Fourth East African JUA -KALI exhibition, November 2002

10th Uganda International Trade Fair in 0ctober, 2002

8th International Interdisciplinary Women's World Congress in July 2002 and many mini ones
